Tiny Big Foot’s Big Choice At dogs’s eye view and at young dog’s perspective, Jennie M. Bragaw and Nzuji De Magalhaes take us through a glorious day of Tiny Big Dog’s anticipation, fun, and hope that leads to the point of his momentous decision. Along the way we meet Tiny’s friends and see his remarkable hometown along the California coast. A true Californian, Tiny is, of course, a surfing canine, with his own Guru, Gordie, and an arch surfing nemesis named Scruffy. On this big day, Tiny hopes to beat out Scruffy and win the dog-surfing competition. Ms Bragaw’s story is filled with intriguing surprises. Ms Magalhaes’s illustrations contain their own surprises and delights; my personal favorites are a beach sunset and Tiny shooting the curl surrounded by incandescent water. But each page offers the reader and viewer a joy or an anticipation. We follow in wonder as Tiny learns that sometimes the only way to win is to lose.
